p12p2.geo.re4.yahoo.com Rick: I think Irene has the seed of a great idea. In addition to
running your fabulous guided tours of Lower Manhattan, you could run them of Tarigo. As I recall you saying, the biggest drawback to
the weekend reunions was that, due to the wide disparity in ages, many of the
campers had never known one another. You could solve that problem by
organizing the tours into small groups, say 15 to 25, based on the years they
went to camp, and run multiple excursions throughout the summer in the form
of day trips. Those wishing to stay overnight could provide for their own accomodations. This way you wouldn't be on the hook
financially, at least not to the degree you were for the reunions, and you
might even make a (well-deserved) profit. |

c-98-254-42-243.hsd1.fl.comcast.net Today I found out that a woman who I have known for years, and
am very good friends with is the widow of Bobby Singer! This is so crazy and
random. We were having lunch today w/ a group of our friends when the subject
of camp came up and I started to wax poetic about my wonderful summers at
camp. Someone at the table asked me the name of the camp and I said "oh
you wouldn't know it, it was a very small camp in
upstate NY, called Camp Tarigo". My Friend
Donna turned to me and said "my husband went to Camp Tarigo"!
It took me a minute to put all the pieces together and then I realized OMG
your husband was Bobby Singer...I got goose bumps all over...I remember Bobby
Singer very well. Dr. Robert Singer died of ALS several years ago, and my
friend Donna runs a charity for ALS in his honor here in Miami...what a
strange, small world this is!!!! |

TARIGO today. We took pictures by sniders (of course singing Hiking on the
highway as we walked there), at the lake (now Lori Stamford's pond), at the Tarigo girl's basketball
courts, at the Tarigo sign and last but not least
took pictures by the fireplace where the rec hall used to be. Lori, Scott and
David Stamford's mom brought us by Michael Lewis' campgrounds where Michael
and Beaver shared stories with us. We then went to the Fleischmans
museum where they have a wall of Tarigo pictures.
After Tarigo we went to Woodstock. Memories,
memories, memories.....What a great day!!! This was up there with the Carol

that time was still very much in-tact, but completely abandoned. We were
always facinated with the camp, and the history of
it, but were never able to find any information. It's really exciting to find
this website. When we first discovered it we spent days exploring the camp.
Over the years that followed the camp was vandalized and most of the camp
equipment was subsequently stolen. And I was sad when the property was
developed. Keep up the great website! |

shows and color wars over two fun summers, often under the direction of Joe
Allen [GREASE, WEST SIDE STORY]. The Allens were
distant relatives. In 1974, showing sympathies to Patty Hearst, et. al., the TaRiGo Liberation Army, a band of dissatisfied counselors
and staff, lashed out by taking over... [something;
was it the flagpole?]. During late 80s, while visiting friends in Woodstock,
I visited the site and saw the demolition in progress. In the mid-90s, while
watching a friend's friends' slide show, I realized that they built a house
on the site of my TaRiGo bunk. Currently practicing
as an actury consulting to multiemployer pension

the first summer I went. I remember the way the bunks looked, how cold the
lake water was first thing in the morning, the "bug juice" and
chocolate milk and cookies after rest hour. And, of course, the plays --
Sound of Music, Cinderella, Peter Pan, etc... I was always on the color war

cpe-74-68-137-138.nyc.res.rr.com These assholes who are hacking this website are truly demented.
Can you just imagine how stupid they are and how miserable their lives must
be if they consider this entertainment? Disgusting, revolting, repulsive,
repugnant - all these words apply to them (if indeed there is more than one).
I hope their lives become even more miserable as time progresses!

from '58-'62 and I wonder if anyone has any pics of any of these shows they
can email me privately. I have the fondest memories of Tarigo
and live not too far from the camp.

as5800-1.216-194-2-251.nyc.ny.metconnect.net I came
there with others from Camp Alamar. I had a good
time for the brief time I was there, and would like anyone who recognizes my
photo or my name to write me, so we can catch up on old times, as well as new
times since.Only the campers at Alamar
would know the lengths I would go to to gain attention.
We can discuss that later. I hope to hear from you, |

furious that we beat them in softball from 1967 through 1969. |

c-75-69-179-72.hsd1.ma.comcast.net I spent 10 summers at Tarigo and it
was a big part of my life. I have many great memories and think of it often,
particularly as I have sent each of my 4 kids to overnight camp (and am now
broke!) About 7 or 8 years ago, I took my family to Tarigo
and walked around the deserted camp which was a bittersweet experience. After
driving up Redkill Road I saw the Tarigo sign (the "A" was missing) and got
chills when I saw it. It's nice to connect with so many familiar names. |

just finding it. It was great to see so many familiar names & photos. For
the record, I'm a real estate developer living in Washington, DC. Married

what a great time I had, and it continued through all the other camps we went
to even though it wasn't in Fleischmann's, trupin, algonquin and finally westmont.

cache-dtc-ah13.proxy.aol.com so many great memories...I am reminded every summer when I go to
my summer house in Fleischmanns...Seems so long ago
especially when I have 3 children ages 16-20! but it
also seems like yesterday. I am happy to say that I still stay in contact
with some of the wonderful friends I made during those summers. I still am a
pretty good athlete! Although no longer married I actually met my ex husband there...

205-179-94-174.client.dsl.net David Wadro was one of our more
memorable friends. Sadly, he was one of the younger TARIGOites
to pass away in the 1970's. I remember that April 1st was his birthday and
Wayne and I still call each other every year in memory of David. We tried to
find Cindi, his sister to no avail. Did anyone keep
in touch with Cindi Wadro?
So Happy Birthday David! Welcome to cyberspace.

to Woodstock. I told them it was a lack of imagination on my part; now I
think it's just a lack of recollection. Next time they bring it up, I'm gonna tell them what really happened! Thanks, Neil! All our beat for your son's speedy and safe return.

cache-mtc-ah13.proxy.aol.com Just a quick hello to those I spent fun and interesting times
with at Tarigo. Fond memories...I have taken my
children to see the camp: my daughters saw the Rec Hall before it was torn down...we
wandered inside and they could see signatures of those of us who passed
through! This past summer I took my oldest daughter and my son to Woodstock
and we stopped by the camp, went down to the lake...fun memories. |

75-142-60-114.static.mtpk.ca.charter.com I'd
like to express my gratitude to Mrs. Landman for
tricking Rick into going to camp, because otherwise we wouldn't have this
terrific website. (To learn how she did it, read the transcript of Rick's
monologue given at the 2005 Reunion.) I'd also like to express my relief upon
learning that Freddy Berins made it safely out of
Cuba after the revolution. (To learn about my anxiety, read my comments on
page two of the Nostalgia link.) Finally, I'd like to express my shock at
learning that during the 1970s Donny Fine and I lived in adjacent buildings
on the same NYC street. We probably passed each other a hundred times. How
could I have known it was him? You never knew what weight he'd show up at. |
